Proper Dress Sock Etiquette

Saturday, February 4, 2012 by Jennifer Dean
Maybe you’ve never given much thought to your dress socks before, simply pulling out whatever you saw first in your drawer and matching them with your best suit. But there is a whole etiquette involved with formal socks and while things like color and model might not matter to you, they certainly do in the etiquette world!

Gold Toe Men's 3 Pack Extended Size Cotton Fluffies CrewThe most common mistake people make when pairing their socks and dress shoes is to match the sock to the shoe and not the pant. In fact, it is your pants and socks that should match. And while you might not think there’s a huge difference between black Gold Toe dress socks and navy blue, the difference is huge (and obvious) to many. Choose socks that match the pant, not that are similar in color.

While it may be tempting to wear running socks in lieu of formal socks, this too is something that should never be done. Dress shoes are generally not made for the thicker material that athletic socks usually bring, and athletic socks are most often also white – often the worst color that you can wear with dress pants!

Many men don’t want to have to worry about dressing up, let alone worry about the socks they’re going to wear with their suit! At Amazing Socks we help you out by bringing you a huge selection of socks to pick and choose from. So you can be comfortable and proper, all at the same time!

Benefits of Wearing Compression Socks for Athletes

Friday, February 3, 2012 by Jennifer Dean
Compression socks are often used by people diagnosed with Diabetes to improve circulation in the lower extremities and avoid injuries. Aside from this function, these socks can also be used by athletes to help them improve their performance in their chosen sport. Here are some benefits athletes will get from compression socks.

Increased Endurance
Increased circulation in the legs and feet means there is also increased oxygen circulating the lower extremities. An increased oxygen level means a lower Lactic Acid level. A high Lactic Acid level produces pain in the legs. If an athlete experiences less pain, he or she will be able to last longer in the game or race and perform better.

Aside from this feature, there are socks, like those from SmartWool Socks, that have moisture-wicking abilities to keep your feet dry at all times.

What are Quarter Diabetic Socks?

Thursday, January 26, 2012 by Jennifer Dean
Diabetic socks have many great features to them, but so often people mistakenly think that these socks only come in full-length knee-high styles. While these are the most popular type of socks for diabetics, they’re certainly not the only style available.

Smartwool Women's Unwound Non-Bind CrewQuarter socks are also available for diabetics, which still have all of the features of the non-binding socks typically seen in socks for diabetics, but even more so! Quarter socks for diabetics only reach just above the ankle, and so they are especially ideal for people who are bothered by even the slightest elastic or binding feel of socks that sometimes come with crew socks. Diabetics who suffer from severe neuropathy often find this slight binding feeling to be too much to bear.

Quarter socks for diabetics are also called diabetic tennis socks because the two look so similar. However, the two are very different. Quarter socks for diabetics still come with all the features that you’d find in socks for diabetics, such as the extra padding that protects sensitive feet from blisters, and a non-abrasive seam to keep feet from becoming irritated and developing sores so common in the feet of diabetics.

At Amazing Socks we have everything for a diabetic’s needs. Whether you’re looking for a full-length sock to come up right over your calf, or you need a quarter sock that won’t be quite as uncomfortable, we have many different styles to keep you and your feet happy and healthy!

Treat Your Feet Right, Even When They’re at Work!

Thursday, December 29, 2011 by Jennifer Dean
The most thought that people usually give to their foot attire when it comes to their work wardrobe is whether or not to wear black or grey. But treating your feet right, even when you (and them) are at work, can give you more energy and make you feel less tired when it’s quitting time.

Do you often find that your feet feel cramped, sweaty, and sore by the end of the day? It’s most likely because they’re made from cotton, which holds moisture close to the skin and can make things very uncomfortable. Work socks though are generally made from wool or a blend of wool and other moisture-wicking synthetics to keep your feet warmer, drier, and more comfortable throughout the entire day.

Compression socks are another great option to wear during the work day. These socks are tight at the ankle and gradually become looser as they move up the calf. This helps to alleviate any blood that might be pooling in the feet and legs; and it also helps to relieve fatigue in the legs.

For those that work outside all day and need something to keep their feet especially warm, double layer socks can also be a tremendous relief. These socks are actually two layers of sock, all within one. So you still get all the warmth from wearing two socks, but without the pain of scrunching and bunching in your shoe.

If you need to relieve fatigue and make your feet feel good at work again, stop by Amazing Socks. We have all kinds of options that will keep your feet happy from 9 – 5!

Dress Socks – They’ve Come a Long Way, Baby!

Monday, December 26, 2011 by Jennifer Dean
Gold Toe 3 Pr. Pack Windsor Wool OTC Dress SockIt used to be that a man put on a suit and chose socks to match. That was it; that was the extent to which a man needed to think about the socks they paired with their suits. Today however, men’s dress socks are about much more than color and are now accessories that will actually help anyone feel better just by wearing them!

The colors of these socks have definitely changed. Where once men had only choices of black, gray, or dark blue, today just about any style, pattern or color is not only accepted, but encouraged! And it’s not only the color that has changed, but the entire feel of the sock too. Before, any material would have done and cotton was often the most popular choice. However, these socks hold moisture to the foot, making anything you do in them very uncomfortable. And, cotton is also very thick and doesn’t always fit into dress shoes. Socks such as Gold Toe dress socks however, are very thin to make more room in the foot. And, they even have toe seams to keep seams flatter and make things comfier!

To find out just how far all the different men’s socks have come today, stop by Amazing Socks. We’ve got everything you’re looking for and all your other undergarments too, like Munsingwear underwear. Stop by and check out our full selection that will keep you in style from head to toe!

What's the Difference Between Compression Socks and Diabetic Socks?

Sunday, December 25, 2011 by Jennifer Dean
Perhaps because they each often have compression features, diabetic socks and compression socks (also sometimes called support socks) often become confused and the terms are used interchangeably. So, are there are any differences between the two?

Gold Toe Support Over-the-Calf SockBoth types of socks have the advantage of having compression features, although that’s not always the case with socks for diabetics. In fact, often one of the features that’s often touted in socks for diabetics is that they’re non-binding socks. That’s important, because a diabetic’s feet and legs cannot be restricted too much, and circulation needs to be allowed to flow freely. Tightness can also sometimes lead to blisters, which can be critical for diabetics who suffer from nerve damage and can easily see blisters lead to ulcers. Many socks for diabetics also have pads on the soles to provide more of a cushion, avoiding more sores; as well as seamless features, so there’s no rough material to scratch the skin.

Support socks on the other hand, usually focus on one feature – the compression bands. Many do come with some other small features but the compression is the main purpose of the sock. Unlike socks for diabetics, support socks also often have compression bands that begin at the ankle and move all the way up, whereas socks for diabetics often only have one or two bands.

Sometimes these two types of socks do still overlap, and the features of one can blend into the other. When you come to Amazing Socks you can check out all of the different socks we carry, whether you’re looking to alleviate some of the pain of diabetes, or just some of the pain in your legs!

How to Give Men’s Underwear for Christmas

Wednesday, December 21, 2011 by Jennifer Dean
Men’s boxers and briefs are a great Christmas gift idea, whether you’re stuffing them in Munsingwear White Woven Gripper Boxer with Snaps 2-Pkstockings or wrapping them up and putting them under the tree. But while it’s so common for men to buy their ladies undergarments, women are often hesitant to buy their men undergarments, simply because they don’t even know where to start when it comes to buying them.

The only thing you really have to do is know who you’re buying for. Men are extremely particular about their underwear, and they generally don’t like to switch between boxers and briefs. Whichever one your man prefers, you can find great brands that offer both, such as Munsingwear boxers and Munsingwear briefs. Find out what they like and go with a trusted company that makes quality styles, and half of your undergarment battle is already won!

Once you know what your man likes, you then need to figure out what he needs. Does he work outside in the cold all day? You might want to include a pair of thermal underwear along with that cute pair of boxers. Does he wear a suit all day, under which baggy boxers will just bunch up and become uncomfortable? Get him a couple pairs of boxers, along with a couple pair of briefs so that they can be comfortable all day long, wherever they are!

Lastly, buy all your underwear from Amazing Socks. We have briefs, boxers, plus combinations of the two for those men who like to have it all (and like to wear boxers under their trousers.) Whatever present you have in mind for your man, we’re sure to have it!
