Winter Gloves for the Summer!

Saturday, April 21, 2012 by Jennifer Dean

In many parts of the country and the rest of the world, the ice and snow has all melted, the weather’s 180's Women's Metro Faux Suede Gloves with Tec Touchturning warmer, and the buds have started to bloom. And while along with all of that, people are also starting to bundle up their winter gear and pack away their winter gloves, there are a few that you may want to keep out and pack with your summer gear. Gloves can be useful all year round, and if you plan on taking part in certain summer activities, gloves are a must.

Motorcycle gloves are one type that can be handy during the summer months. These gloves can protect the rider’s hands from chafing, chapping, or being cut by small pieces of debris during the journey. These gloves are often designed from perforated leather, in order to keep hands both protected and cool during those long rides.

Another one of the most popular types of gloves for the summer months are golf gloves. These can be found in both summer and winter styles, for those courses that are open all year round, but still experience cooler months. Tight-fitting in order to ensure the smoothest swing and least interference, these gloves can help performance by improving your grip, and will keep your hands warm, too.

Hiking gloves can also be useful if you’re going to be traveling along rough terrain, and if you’ll also need additional grip. Climates can quickly change as well during certain hikes, such as those going up a mountain, so in this case it’s especially important to be fully prepared for cooler weather by packing other items such as warm Smartwool hiking socks and Indera Men’s Thermals.

The Different Styles of Thermal Underwear

Friday, February 24, 2012 by Jennifer Dean
Most of us like to keep warm during the colder months, but not all of us like to wear big bulky thermal underwear under our clothes. Thankfully, these undergarments have come a very long way so that you can keep warm, no matter what your style.

Indera Men's Dual Face Hydropur Performance Thermal TopFor those that are going to be in a colder environment, but know that they’ll be wearing a short-sleeved uniform or shirt under their jacket, thermal tank tops are great to keep you warm and will feel like a second skin – meaning you won’t even know they’re there. An alternative, if you’re not going for the dressy look, is to wear a long-sleeved thermal shirt underneath a t-shirt. You won’t have to worry about how you look, and you’ll still be able to keep warm. Indera men’s thermals have many options in many different colors; so you can coordinate one with every t-shirt you have.

If you don’t want anyone to see your second layer, often just a cotton undershirt underneath a t-shirt can provide all the warmth you need, without bunching or looking awkward under your shirt. When you buy Munsingwear undergarments for instance, they are close and form-fitting and they work perfectly under any garment you need them to.

If you have the opposite problem and need your thermal undergarments to actually cover more than you typically find, choose a one-piece suit. These are full pieces that cover both the arms and legs and provide the best warmth you can find. Although they can sometimes be hard to find, at Amazing Socks, we have all the different styles of thermal undergarments you’re looking for, and we’ve got them at discount too!

Thermal Underwear: Choosing Silk or Synthetic

Tuesday, February 21, 2012 by Jennifer Dean

When most people think about thermal underwear, they envision the cotton or flannel long johns that have Munsingwear White Woven Gripper Boxer with Snaps 2-Pkbeen around for centuries. But among these types of long underwear, another type is also becoming quite popular, and that’s silk. So when choosing long underwear, should you choose silk or synthetic?

Both are good options, as they both have unique advantages. Silk underwear feels ultra-luxurious against the skin, and is especially beneficial for those who have sensitive skin. It can also be best to wear under clothing since it is thinner and moves easier. Silk underwear is best for when you want to wear long underwear, but don’t need superior warmth. While silk underwear does provide some degree of warmth, it won’t be as much as you’ll get with synthetic long underwear.

On the other hand, long underwear that’s made with a combination of natural and synthetic materials, such as Munsingwear underwear will be able to provide much more warmth than silk underwear simply because they are made of a thicker material. Because of that, cotton and synthetic long underwear is best if you’re going to be out in the cold for a long time.

Another thing you might need to consider is your budget; silk tends to be more expensive than other kinds of underwear. If you do want the best though, come see us at Amazing Socks. We have silk underwear at discounted prices, and all your warm cozy long johns too, including Indera Men’s Thermals and Coldmaster thermals.

How Thermals Work

Saturday, December 31, 2011 by Jennifer Dean
Winter is the time of the year when you take out your winter essentials to stay warm. With the countless thermals on the market today, have you ever wondered how thermals work?

Cold Pruf ThermalsThermals are often made of 2 layers of fabric. They trap cold air and use your body heat to warm the trapped air. The trapped air combins with the continued heat your body produces keeping you warm and comfortable. Other thermals also have a wicking feature. This keeps moisture and sweat away from the skin. The wicking feature also prevents body odor.

Indera Men's ThermalsThermals, like Cold Pruf Thermals, are made from natural and man-made fibers. When Merino wool and polyester fiber is combined, you get maximum warmth, comfort, dryness and odor control.

You will find different types of thermals on the market. Some people like to go for sleeveless vests while others prefer long-sleeved thermal tops and long johns. It is always a good idea to have a mix of the different types of thermal underwear for different weather temps and conditions.

Save on your thermal wear by getting them from Amazing Socks. You'll be able to buy some of the most popular brands like Cold Pruf and Indera Men's Thermals at discounted prices.

How to Buy Thermal Underwear

Thursday, December 22, 2011 by Jennifer Dean
If you need an extra layer to keep you warm during the winter months, you might think there’s Coldmaster 100% Polypropylene Thermal Pantnothing to going out and buying some thermal underwear. But there’s more to look for in these undergarments than just long pants and long sleeves. You need to know what specific features to look for to make sure that the underwear actually does what you need it to.

The first and most important features you need to look for in your thermal wear is to make sure that it wicks moisture away from your body and that it can regulate your body temperature. Of course, regulating body temp really only means that it should be able to keep you warm, and moisture-wicking is a big part of that. A warm pair of long underwear such as Indera thermals are both heavy enough to keep you warm and they quickly wick moisture away from the body.

Lastly, remember that your long underwear is going to be going under your clothes. While this may sound obvious, it’s something that people often forget about when choosing the sizing of their undergarments. It’s important that the underwear is close enough to the body to not bunch up underneath layers; but also not so tight that it feels tight or uncomfortable. Long underwear needs to work like a second skin – and it should be comfortable enough to feel like it too!

If you need help choosing your long underwear, stop by Amazing Socks. You’ll find all kinds of great brand names such as Munsinger and Indera Men’s Thermals that will make it easy for you to choose which thermals are the right ones for you!

Give Hunters the Gift of Invisibility

Wednesday, December 14, 2011 by Jennifer Dean
If you’re trying to track down the perfect gift for the hunter in your life this holiday season, Coldmaster No Scent Hunter Thermal Shirtforget about all the gadgets and gizmos that are more distracting than they are practical. Instead give them a Coldmaster No Scent Hunter Thermal shirt from Indera Men’s Thermals, and give them the gift of invisibility!

Did you know that a deer’s primary defense against predators is its sense of smell? While deer are colorblind and don’t have a great sense of sight in general, they do have a very keen sense of smell and can detect human body scent up to 30 yards away. That’s far, and even with the best binoculars, a deer can usually detect a hunter’s scent long before the hunter actually sees them.

That keen sense of smell is one of the hunter’s biggest problems, and Coldmaster shirts from Indera are the answer. These hide the hunter’s scent by keeping it close to the body and not letting it escape the fabrics of the shirt. And, because it can often be chilly spending hours in the woods, this line of Indera Men’s Thermals will not only keep your scent close – but your body heat too.

These thermal undershirts aren’t only great gifts for hunters, but also for fishermen who need to be quiet (and silent,) hikers who like to just stroll along the trails and watch wildlife in its natural, undisturbed habitat, and anyone who’s going to be spending some time outside and needs to stay warm.

Find all invisibility your hunter needs at Amazing Socks and while you’re there, make sure to pick up some winter gloves and Cold Pruf Thermals for that favorite hunter in your life!

The Sock Investigator

Tuesday, November 25, 2008 by Jodi Rittgers

Carson is a retired state investigator.  His years on the job, have taught him one thing; do your homework.  That is exactly what Carson does no matter how big or small the decision is.  He knows that whatever he decides, he is going to have to live with his choices.  Whether its a large purchase like a refrigator or a little more personal like socks and underwear, this is a man who is always prepared to make the right decision.  Just because he is retired does not mean he has stopped doing what he does best.

Carson is still very much a man on the go. He is quite a bull of a man and still is very fit.  Living in the mountains the mornings are cold and he has his favorite thermal underwear to protect him from the harsh conditions.  His choice is the Indera Mills 100% cotton heavyweight thermals.  He buys a couple sets every winter and just loves the warmth they provide.  Now if his body is warm, that leaves his feet to be covered just as warmly.

Carson prefers his merino wool socks.  Carson's favorites are made by Wigwam Socks.  The merino wool comfort hiker absolutely is heaven for his feet, keeping him warm and giving him the padding he needs for his morning workout. When that morning workout, is actually an afternoon workout, he prefers to go for his favorite running socks, made by Thorlo Socks.  Carson just loves the Thorlo Level 2 running lightweight mini crew.  These socks provides light to moderate cushioning for his short jogs and helps keep his feet dry and comfortable.  No running, no problem, Carson is always prepared with his favorite walking socks as well.

Carson is not always up for a run and prefers sometimes to just talk a walk to get his blood flowing a bit. For this no matter the weather conditions or temperatures he just loves his Fox River Socks. The sock he just loves is called the Fox River Bilbao.  Comfort, warmth, temperature regulation, this sock does it all.  When the exercise is over, the more serious stuff begins.

Carson's expertise is in high demand.  He has a part-time consulting business and when he meets with clients he must dress to impress.  His favorite pair of dress socks are made by Smartwool and are real classics.  The mens City Slickers are a terrific looking dress sock that really adds that finishing touch to any professional apparel.  When business is over it's time to unwind and rest his achy feet.

Carson prefers the feel of diabetic socks to end his day because they do not bind his leg, so it allows any natural end of the day swelling to be handled with the softness and quality of the Wigwam Diabetic Walker.  While he does not suffer from diabetes, anyone can benifit from this comfortable non-binding walking sock.  Carson has really got it together.  He considers what he needs, does research to find out what he wants and then he goes about living his Amazing life, Amazing Socks and all!!!
