Whether you’re going to be in a walk-a-thon, or you’re just on your feet a lot during the day, if you spend a lot of time walking around, you need the proper pair of walking socks to help you do it. So what should you look for when buying this type of sock?

Fox River Socks Wick Dry Running Quarter SockThe first thing to look for is the weight of the sock and to match it with the season in which you’ll be wearing it. There are socks for walking in all seasons and if it’s going to be in the middle of summer, you might want to choose shorter running socks. These socks will keep you cool by giving you only the protection you need, and nothing more.

On the other hand, if you’re going to be walking in winter, you’ll want to choose thicker socks designed for walking such as hiking socks. These will provide all the comfort of lighter socks, but will also give you additional warmth throughout the foot and the leg.

Any sock you’re going to be doing a lot of walking in should always be made of only wool, and no other material. Wool is the only material that will properly wick moisture away from the foot and keep it well ventilated, unlike cotton socks.
