World’s Softest Socks can Save Your Shoes!

Monday, April 30, 2012 by Jennifer Dean

Have you ever owned a pair of leather or canvas shoes, such as boat shoes or patent leather shoes that World's Softest Classic Over the Calfafter several wears develop an unpleasant odor? It can be a real problem not just because you don’t like the smell, but because you know others will be able to smell it, too, especially if you take your shoes off. There are plenty of things you can do to try and deal with the odor, but only one really works.

These types of shoes trap odors very well, because the very material they’re made of isn’t decided to breathe and to release those odors. Because of this, people turn to all sorts of remedies such as insoles, odor-eating powders and lotions, even stuffing potpourri into their shoes overnight! None of these will work, but changing your socks might.

Wearing socks that are known to keep your foot well-ventilated, such as World’s Softest Socks, are the answer. The fabric in these socks takes any excess moisture that accumulates on your foot and moves them through the fabric and into the air, so it never gets a chance to stay in your shoe. These socks aren’t the only socks that will take the odor out though; Smartwool hiking socks, and other wool socks will, too.

When it comes to getting odor out of your shoe, it really has nothing to do with your shoe at all, but the socks that you wear inside of them. When it’s time for you to get the right socks to combat odors, come see us at Amazing Socks where we’re always having a Smartwool socks sale, and discounts on all of our other socks, too!

Mens Smartwool Socks can Help Relieve Pain of Athlete’s Foot

Tuesday, April 24, 2012 by Jennifer Dean

Athlete’s foot is a condition, also sometimes known as ringworm of the foot, in which a fungus begins to Smartwool Men's New Classic Rib Sockgrow on the skin, causing flaking, itchiness, scaling, and burning in the affected area. The fungi is generally transmitted in areas that are moist and are highly exposed to a large amount of people walking around barefoot, such as in a gym shower and in bathhouses. Athlete’s foot can happen just about anywhere on the body that’s moist and exposed to the fungi that causes it, but it’s most often found on the feet. It’s for this reason that women’s and men’s Smartwool socks can help ease the pain.

Smartwool socks are made from Merino wool, the softest wool in the world; but more importantly than that, because they are made of wool they also offer great ventilation and help keep feet cool and dry. This is hugely important, as the more drier the area is, the less likely it’s going to be that the fungus is going to spread to other parts of the body, or become worse in the original area.

Athlete’s foot can be a difficult condition to control and prevent, and you won’t be able to do it through socks alone. You will need to see a doctor to obtain a prescription and obtain real treatment. But in the meantime, socks can be a big help to relieve the pain, burning, and itching of athlete’s foot and we’ve got all of them. Come see us at Amazing Socks where the Smartwool socks sale is always going on, and we have tons of other styles, such as Wrightsock Coolmesh socks, that will prove to be a huge help, too!

Friday, April 20, 2012 by Jennifer Dean

SmartWool® Men's Adventurer Crew Hiking SockWhen you’re looking at all the different hiking gear that will help you along your next path, you’ll undoubtedly come across hiking socks – and wonder if they’re really worth it. Hiking socks can be a bit more expensive than other types of socks, and this alone makes many think that they’re simply a gimmick used to lure in avid hikers. But genuine hiking socks are designed with many features that will make your hike easier, and keep you going for longer.

Smartwool hiking socks are mostly known for being made out of merino wool, the softest wool in the world that keeps feet warm and dry without being itchy or irritating. This wool also wicks moisture away from the skin, so you don’t have to suffer from blisters. But even with these most popular features, these socks will bring even more to your next hike.

Women’s and men’s Smartwool socks are usually padded along the heel and the sole of the foot – the two places that have the highest impact and are under the most amount of pressure during your hike. Over top of this extra cushioning are also reinforced seams, so you can work out these socks as hard as you need, and know that they’re still going to last you for years to come.

So are hiking socks really worth it? Yes, they are! They’re the only socks that will protect your feet and make sure that you enjoy every hike you take. And, when you can come to Amazing Socks where we’re always having a Smartwool socks sale, there’s really no difference in price from other types of socks.

Live in a Hot Climate? Smartwool Socks are a Must!

Tuesday, March 13, 2012 by Jennifer Dean

The summer months are coming, and that means that areas that experience hot climate are about to get Smartwool Women's Hiking Medium Creweven hotter. This is a time when you’ll most likely think about your feet – and how hot they are – more than ever. But with the right socks, you won’t think about them at all, and start to enjoy that beautiful weather!

Smartwool socks are one of the best choices you could make. These socks are nothing like the thick, itchy wool socks you grew up on. No, they’re made out of only the finest and softest wool – Merino wool. Merino wool socks are made from wool taken from merino sheep, originally mainly found in New Zealand but now bred all over the world. This wool is so soft because it’s finely crimped, and falls within the “extremely fine” category of wool.

Merino wool also has the advantage of being thermostatic, meaning that it will regulate your temperature. If your body temperature drops, the socks will insulate heat; if however you get hot, the socks will provide ventilation and help cool you down. Another huge benefit they bring with them is that they’re able to absorb 30% of its weight in water. This is especially helpful when conditions are hot and your feet perspire a lot.

Many people think that Merino wool is much more expensive than other types of materials; and that’s often true. At Amazing Socks however, we make it affordable to buy Smartwool socks, and any other type of socks you need. Visit us today, and enjoy more comfortable feet tomorrow!

How to Choose Slipper Socks: Merino Wool Socks, or Fleece?

Saturday, March 10, 2012 by Jennifer Dean

Slipper socks can be great for when you’re just lounging around the house, or when you’re at the spa or gym. But not all slipper socks are made the same. There are two main types available, merino wool socks and fleece socks, and the one you choose will depend on what you’re looking for out of your slipper sock, and how much time you want to spend caring for them.

Socks made from merino wool are usually larger slipper socks, and provide extra warmth while that additional “comfy, cozy feeling.” Many people think that socks made from merino wool cost significantly more than other types of slipper socks; but if you know where to shop, you can buy Smartwool socks, made from merino wool, for very affordable prices. Because merino wool is in fact wool, it often has special care instructions so it’s important to always check this beforehand when choosing this type of World's Softest Footsie Sock with Grip Bottomsock.

Fleece slipper socks, such as World’s Softest socks, are usually best for when you’re at the spa, or somewhere else where you need your feet to be comfortable and covered, but shoes aren’t appropriate. This type of slipper sock is much smaller and they’re usually easier to care for, too.

Whatever type of slipper sock you choose will ultimately depend mostly on your own personal preference. Whether you’re still trying to decide, or you already know what you’re looking for, come see us at Amazing Socks. We got Merino wool slipper socks, and fleece ones too!

Kids Outgrow their Socks? What To Do With Them Now!

Tuesday, February 28, 2012 by Jennifer Dean
All parents know that kids grow out of their clothes at a phenomenal rate, especially their socks! With how often they get yanked off, thrown around, and just have those little toes sticking out of them, it’s no wonder that kids grow out of their socks as quickly as they do! But Drymax Socks Running No Showno one wants to throw them, and all that money used to pay for them, out in the trash. So, what can you do with kids socks once the kids have outgrown them?

If the socks are especially long, you can always turn to the tried-and-true craft of sock puppets. Set up a small stage for “the show” to take place and then set your kids up with some googly eyes, pipe cleaners, feathers, buttons, beads, glitter, and glue. Let them create their own sock puppet and you’ll not only have found a use for those old socks, but something to keep them busy for weeks to come too!

If you have shorter socks, such as Worlds Softest Socks, chop off the toes once the kids are done wearing them, and start using them as a cup warmer! Tuck your coffee cup or thermos in there and stop wasting all those cardboard sleeves or buying the expensive cup warmers.

Of course, then there’s the old faithful method of using recycled running socks as rags for cleaning around your home. Whenever you need to dust or wipe the mirrors and windows, these can actually work much better than many dusters!

There are lots of things you can do with your old socks. And when you need to replace them with new ones – to wear on your feet – come see us at Amazing Socks!

What are Merino Wool Socks?

Thursday, December 29, 2011 by Jennifer Dean
There’s been a lot of buzz in the sock world lately about Merino wool socks, those socks that come from halfway around the world, and are just about the softest and warmest thing you could wrap your feet in. But just what are these socks?

Smartwool Men's Nailhead Grid Crew SockMerino wool comes from the Merino sheep, a type of sheep found in New Zealand and that’s thought to have the softest and most envied wool of any other type of sheep, When these sheep are shorn for their wool and that wool is made into socks, it becomes something that’s not only soft and warm, but that will also help protect your feet.

Smartwool Socks is one company that’s becoming extremely popular in the world of wool socks, and this is because these socks use that precious wool of the Merino sheep. And from the minute you slip them on, you’ll see (or rather feel,) why Merino wool is truly something special. But Smartwool adds their own uniqueness to these socks, and that’s the truly “smart” fabric of keratin, also found in the sock. It’s this fabric that makes these socks resistant to bacteria, keeping your feet cleaner and healthier.

But just because it comes all the way from New Zealand doesn’t mean that these socks have to cost you a fortune. At Amazing Socks, we don’t just have Smartwool sales, we discount Smartwool socks every single day. So stop by whenever you want to treat yourself, or anybody else, to the world’s finest wool!

Diabetic Dilemma

Tuesday, August 11, 2009 by Lillian Pagan

Dear Sally,Diabetic Thermal Crew

I'm going to try and make this as short and sweet as possible. Just last month I was told I have diabetes. On top of being diabetic I've gained a considerable amount of weight and have become easily bothered by the tight elastic band in my socks. My calves seem to get in the way with almost every pair of socks I put on. I hate feeling like my leg is being choked by the elastic top that I now cut off the sock. Before you know it my sock has unraveled in the wash because I had to cut out the elastic holding it together. Can you recommend some good diabetic socks that aren't so darn tight and constricting?

Signed,

Dang My Diabetes

Dear Dang My Diabetes,

I can go on and on about several great diabetic socks for you but, I will try and list one popular style for each area (i.e athletic, casual, dress). As a expert sock adviser, I will definitely have to recommend theDiabetic Sport Crew by Wigwam Socks. This athletic styled wonder is perfectly padded and ideal for anyone looking to get active! If you're looking for a more casual approach then, I would recommend the Diabetic Walker also by Wigwam Socks. This casual sock is thin yet, comfy and wonderful at wicking away moisture. For a dress sock I would go with this same style, It has many uses. Let me not forget some great cooler weather socks to keep you warm. There is the Wigwam Diabetic Thermal Crew, super thick and full of thermal warmth and protection. As well there is a sock by World's Softest Sock called the Sensitive Feet Extra Wide Crew. This sock stands up to its name with its soft plush texture and non-restricting stretchy top. I hope I was able to narrow down your search for non-binding socks. All of these are ideal options for any diabetic or person needing a looser knit sock.
